Our mission and organisation

After the start-up years 2021-2024, the centre enters a new phase of operations.

In 2024, the Board of the Faculty of Medicine has had discussions with the Birgit Rausing Foundation for Medical Humanities about the centre's continued funding and organisation. In September 2024, the Board of the Faculty of Medicine decided on new guidelines for the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities. These guidelines replace previous regulations and financing plans.

Mission
  • BRCMH will contribute to the profiling of the Faculty of Medicine nationally and internationally through special investments in innovative research and education.
  • BRCMH will strive to build a long-term sustainable interdisciplinary research and education environment, as well as to develop medical humanities within education at the Faculty of Medicine.
  • The mission also includes coordination of research projects, activities for students, PhD students and researchers, communication and collaboration efforts, and utilisation of medical humanities.
  • BRCMH will make medical humanities visible in health care and within public debate.

Operational planning

Based on the guidelines, a new operational plan will be developed in 2025. During 2024, we followed up on our previous operational plan, which, among other things, resulted in a report (in Swedish):

BRCMH's management

Decisions have also been made regarding the centre's future management. A new board of the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities has been appointed for the duration of three years (2025-2027). The centre management has been extended during the same period.
